FAQs
Curious about starting therapy? Wondering what to expect? Here are some common questions I get — and honest answers to help you feel more at ease.
-
You can book a free 20-minute consult to see if we’re a good fit. This is a chance to ask questions, get a sense of my style, and share a bit about what’s bringing you in.
-
Nope! You can reach out directly — no doctor’s note required.
-
At the moment, yes.
🧭 Getting Started
-
People often come to me feeling stuck, burned out, overwhelmed, anxious, or navigating big changes. We’ll explore patterns, stressors, values, and whatever else might be in the way of feeling more like yourself.
-
Therapy can be a powerful space for growth, clarity, and healing. People often report feeling more self-aware, more grounded, and better equipped to handle stress, relationships, and big life decisions. But it’s not always easy — sometimes, things can feel more intense before they feel better. You might talk about painful memories, notice emotions you've been avoiding, or confront patterns that are hard to change.
That’s why we go at a pace that feels right for you. Therapy is about making space for what matters and getting support to navigate the hard stuff in a way that feels manageable. If something in therapy ever feels off or confusing, we talk about it together.
-
Collaborative and grounded. Sometimes we talk things through, other times we might get curious about what’s happening in your body or experiment with new tools. We'll go at your pace — with a good mix of depth, care, and the occasional laugh.
-
That makes sense — therapy can feel vulnerable, and not every therapist or approach is the right fit. I'm always open to talking about what hasn’t worked in the past and how we might do things differently.
🌿 Therapy Basics
-
It’s a mix of conversation, reflection, and sometimes working with the body or using practical tools. You might leave a session feeling clearer, lighter, or a little emotionally stretched (in a good way). Sometimes we’ll laugh, sometimes it might feel hard — but it’s always collaborative and grounded in what feels most useful to you.
-
That’s totally okay — and actually, pretty common. You don’t need to come in with a perfect narrative or agenda. Part of my job is helping you slow down, notice what’s coming up, and explore what matters. Some of our best sessions might start with “I’m not sure where to begin.”
🛋️ What to Expect
-
All kinds. I work with queer couples, non-monogamous folks, long-term partners, new relationships, or couples feeling unsure of their future together. My job is to hold space for both of you with care, curiosity, and no judgment.
-
That’s okay — I offer discernment counselling, which helps you get clearer on what’s happening and what you each want, before committing to couples therapy.
-
It varies. Some couples come for a few sessions to work on communication, while others stay longer to untangle deeper patterns. We’ll figure out what makes sense for you.
💞 Couples Therapy
-
Both! I offer sessions in-person in Roncesvalles (Toronto’s West End) or online across Ontario.
-
Individual therapy: $155 (50 minutes)
Couples therapy: $185 (50 min), $225 (75 min)
Group therapy: $50 (60 min)
Sliding scale spots are available — reach out if cost is a concern.
-
Yes — I know scheduling can be a challenge, so I offer evening and weekend availability. Although these spots are limited, so I suggest booking a series of sessions in advance.
-
I don’t bill insurance directly, but I’ll give you a receipt after each session to submit to your provider. Many plans cover Registered Psychotherapists (CRPO).

💻 Sessions, Rates & Logistics
-
We’ll check in regularly to see how things are feeling — what's shifting, what's still sticky. I use measurement-based care, meaning we may use short check-ins or tools to track progress in a way that feels helpful (not clinical or overly analytical).
-
You might meet your goals, feel more resourced, or just feel like it’s time. I’ll support you in recognizing those signs — and we’ll wrap up with intention. You can also take a break or stop any time.
